At Renaissance Academy, we are passionately committed to the success of each
student—academically, socially, and emotionally. We have approximately 100 students throughout
five divisions. Our school day begins at 8:30
and ends at 3:30. The school year encompasses approximately 171 days, and ranges
from the end of August through the end of May or early June.
The Academy’s program honors individual achievement levels, allowing children to
progress as far and as fast as they choose to go, with the recognition that
knowledge is as effective as the foundation on which it is placed. This is the
keystone to our success. We prepare our students for higher education through a
comprehensive and experiential academic curriculum coupled with a graduated
life-skill curriculum that builds self-awareness, confidence and responsible
study skills..
Our classrooms are separated by divisions, rather than the traditional grade
separation. Our classes are multi-age with an approximate two year span, except
in Division V which comprises a three year span. The
benefits to this are many, as having many ages and academic levels provide
challenges for both advanced and younger students, in their areas of strength
and weakness. Learning is content driven as opposed to age driven.
Renaissance Academy has an organized Scope and Sequence that outlines
the subject material taught in each division. In addition, the
life skill curriculum is similarly outlined in the Scope and Sequence. The Scope
and Sequence is available for review in the administrative office.
