Clayanna Killing,
Director
Clayanna Killing founded The Renaissance Academy, formerly The Mackintosh Academy of
Colorado Springs, in September of 1993. As founder and director of this school for gifted
and talented children in Colorado Springs, she has successfully guided and nurtured her
vision of individualized and experiential education into a reality. The Academy is a
wonderful learning community of over 90 kindergarten through eight grade students who work
through a curriculum designed to develop the minds and spirits of young children.
Ms. Killing has a Bachelor of
Arts in Psychology and teaching certification from the University of Montana.
She has taught Psychology and Sociology in Kalispell, Montana and emotionally
and behaviorally disturbed adolescents in Harrison High School. Her educational experience
coupled with a strong business background gained from her employment with the IBM
Corporation, has added a valuable dimension to her work as she continues to motivate and
inspire young adults to become energetic participants in the Renaissance community.

Elisa Heinisch, Office Manager/Bookkeeper
Elisa
Heinisch, our Office Manager and Bookkeeper, reorganized the office to
create optimum efficiency. Elisa joined us
June 2, 2007 from the Boys and Girls club where she worked as their
controller. Elisa was the Bookkeeping
Supervisor in Minnesota at Riverside Bank and also worked at Bank at Broadmoor
here in Colorado Springs. Elisa grew up
in Denmark and insists that "Danes are organized by nature". She
has single-handedly cleaned out files, archived important information, updated
the computer files and produced budgets and cash flow reports in record speed!
She is a wonderful addition to our institution.
Ib Heinisch, Building Manager
Ib Heinisch joined the Academy on August 1, 2007 to
handle our custodial/maintenance needs. Formerly the Environmental Services
Supervisor for the new north-end Memorial Hospital. Before
Ib immigrated to the United States from Denmark in 2004, he worked for SAS
(Scandinavian Airlines System) as a Senior Supervisor in charge of Ramp
Operations. He joined SAS in 1979 after attending Denmark's Technical
University. Ib took continuous notes as he walked through the building for the
first time. Obviously a ‘self starter’, Ib had a ‘to-do’ list right away.
