Your Invitation - An opportunity to prepare for an exciting future

We invite you and your child to experience how the unique program at the Renaissance Academy prepares your child for the future by maximizing intellectual potential, while allowing your child to flourish socially and emotionally.

Placement is based on the child's actual intellectual potential and achievement as well as the child's emotional maturity and behavioral patterns. Students are accepted regardless of race, color, gender, physical or perceptual limitations. However, acceptance into the program is dependent upon staff ability to meet each child's individual needs, including physical, hearing, perceptual limitations, and the child's ability to interact socially with other students. In addition, the availability of space for new students varies annually.

The first step in the admissions process is a personal interview with the parents by the director or admissions director. During this time, it is important for the parents and school to deduce the level of philosophical alignment. We have found children to be most successful when the family and the school share a similar value system. Each child’s actual level of achievement is determined through an evaluation of their schoolwork, special interest work, and other performance evaluations. Additionally, the child’s developmental history is reviewed, and any available information provided by the child’s teachers is considered. Finally, your child is required to participate in one of our classrooms. The amount of time a child visits may vary, and may be as long as it takes for parents, students, and teachers to feel clear about whether Renaissance Academy is the right place for the child. At the conclusion of the evaluation period, the admissions staff and parents will have the information they need to make permanent placement decisions. Our primary goal is to make certain that the child is in the most rewarding and productive atmosphere, and is amongst intellectual and developmental peers.

If your child is 6 years old, Renaissance Academy will request  that he or she  take either a Stanford Binet or Weschler IQ Test to be administered by a clinical psychologist. Although this test can assist in admission decisions, its use provides additional data for individualizing a strategic plan to maximize a child's potential in school.

Children are accepted regardless of race, color, sex, or physical or perceptual limitations. The student body is composed of children from many different cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
